Thanksgiving and intercession prayer 28 June 2026

Give thanks to the Lord for the Lord is good

in the times where we have felt you were distant

Thank you for your love, God

in the times where we were angry with ourselves

thank you for your love, God

in the times where we were angry with you

thank you for your love, God

Give thanks to the Lord for the Lord is good

we give thanks for those who teach us

we can bring all we are

all our pain, anger, hopelessness

to you God

and you love us

no words can express how wonderful it is to know this

thank you is all we have

thank you, too

for those who journey with us through life

family and friends

also those who may be with us for a season

and shown us love in action

thank you for those who bind us broken hearts

and comfort hurting souls

Give thanks to the Lord for the Lord is good

we give thank for the work of the church

in this place

across this land

throughout your world, Lord God

bringing healing, hope and love

to those in the margins

inspire the church’s work, we pray

Lord God

we thank you for those who work tirelessly for justice in our communities and world

give them courage and strength to carry on

changing systems and bringing restoration to this world

we give thanks for farmers and crofters

caring for their land, providing food for our tables

we give thanks for those who provide food and meals for those with bare cupboards

we give thanks for those in public service

councillors, MSPs, MPs

grant them grace and wisdom in their decisions

and a willingness to place others before self

Give thanks to the Lord for the Lord is good

we now pause, in a few moments of quiet

to bring before God

those people, places and situations which are in our hearts and on our minds today

[pause]

Loving God

we give thanks to you for you are good

accept all these prayers

spoken and written on our hearts

offered in faith and trust through Christ Jesus

Amen
