This prayer included long pauses between each sentence, to allow the congregation to reflect, in their own ways, on the themes and images they brought to mind. When I used this, I told the congregation not to worry if they felt they were wandering off topic, but to allow themselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
Creator God
all heaven and earth, all we know and all we have yet to discover were made in your love
Heavenly Christ
word of the father, nothing was made without you being part of it
Holy Spirit
brooding over the waters, bringing order in chaos, stirring up where there is calm
Blessed trinity
move within and around us as we are gathered together
bright radiant light
shine into the places within us which need illumination
cleanse our thoughts and minds
draw us closer into your love
of you
of one another
of your world
Amen
