We’re come through the night
and gathered to worship you, Lord God
at this time,
in this place
some of us will have slept soundly
others would have had broken sleep
wrestling with worries and concerns
for ourselves
for our loved ones
still we come
here
knowing there’s no safer place for us to be
than with you, Almighty God
for we are your people
we are blessed and named your children
by the power of the spirit in us
adopted into your family
through the love of Christ
what wonder
what marvel
what awe
we have
that no matter our struggles
no matter our worries
no matter what life may through at us
you are with us
every step of the Way
guiding us
comforting us
challenging us, even
that in you, we may become more and more Christ-like in all we say and do and are
That said
Christ Jesus
we acknowledge there’s many a time where we fail to reflect your love, your Way, in our daily lives
in words said and unsaid
in things done and not done
in our own failings
and in common with others
humbly
we ask you hear our prayer
and show us the wonder of your great love
in the forgiveness of Christ
know Christ Jesus’ forgiving love again today
know that, even in the struggle, even as you wrestle with demons
he is with you
and blesses you
