Thanksgiving and intercession prayer 10 May 2020

Loving God

we praise and thank you we are your people

no matter what we’ve done

you love us and long for us to know that love through Jesus

we thank you for Jesus

for his teaching and healing

his life, death and resurrection

for his promises to us

that where he goes we will go

[pause]

Christ Jesus

we thank you that you live in us

you trust us to be bearers of your love

in the world

we thank you for the chances to show that love

waving to neighbours in their gardens

placing teddies in windows to brighten people’s days

staying at home to protect others, as difficult as it is

remind us all we do in your name is an act of love

even though it can be hard

even though it may be unseen

[pause]

we thank you for green spaces

and bird song

for families and friends

and new ways to connect

[pause]

Loving One

we bring before you all those who may be struggling this day

the care home worker, worried about the lack of PPE

the delivery driver, busier than ever

those with depression and anxiety, whose conditions are exacerbated at the moment

Parents juggling working from home and home schooling

farmers and crofters working hard to feed the nation

cafe and hotel and pub and restaurant owners, concerned for their staff and the future of their businesses

street children in Malawi

the person in the queue in front of us, when we shop

those in leadership roles, trying their best to make the right decisions

[pause]

the list could go on and on

but we know, even when we fail to find the right words

you look into our hearts and understand

Lord God

accept all our prayers, today and always, offered through Christ Jesus, our Lord

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit

One God now and always

Amen
