Not quite on lectionary this week, based on Psalm 20 and Mark 4:35-41.
Eternal God
maker and ruler and creator of all that is, all that has been and all that will be
whose mighty arm is strong to save
whose powerful hand is quick to bless
we are pleased to know you, to love you, to honour you
all the day of our lives, and especially this hour as we gather in this place, commending it to your worship and praise.
Speak to us, as we gather in your presence, in prayers, in scripture, in music and word
that we may come to know and trust and love you more
Christ Incarnate
come still our stormy lives and turbulent mind
calm us, fresh us, cleanse us
of all which prevents us from drawing close to you
take away our doubts and fears, our worries and anxieties, of the things we’ve said, which we shouldn’t.
The things we’ve left unsaid.
The things we’ve done which we regret
The things we ought to do, but keep putting off until we think it’s the right time.
We are sorry for these and the many ways we’ve not trusted you completely, not followed your example of living a life based on total trust of God your father and our father.
May we know we are forgiven time and time again, and moved by the Holy Spirit, may we be guided in all we say and do and think in this hour, this day, this week and forevermore
all this we pray in and through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who taught us to pray together saying:
