blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord
as we enter Holy Week
help us to follow
follow to the cross
to weep at its foot
as we take in the enormity of the crucifixion
who are we that it is not us subjected to that torture?
We who turn away when discipleship gets difficult
we who long to return to normal, which was destroying the earth
we who sin against others and against God
in word and deed
it is us who should be there
yet, there, there on the cross
is the love of God revealed
where our sins are forgiven
through the one who comes in the name in the Lord
