The God of the Universe
the One who spoke and created
nebulae and nuclei
whales and finches
mountains and parks
is the God we come to worship today
gathering to sing God’s praises
to hear God’s Word
to offer our prayers
to worship at the footstool of grace
Lord God,
come, by the power of the Holy Spirit
we pray
fire us up to do your will
and fill us with greater depths of your love
today
bless what we have to bring to you
this time, set aside in our busyness
to enrich and nourish our faith
the offers we give, today and everyday
to you
our very selves
we who have fallen short of the glory you want from us
in our misunderstandings
in our haste
in our inaction
and in many other ways
yet, in Christ Jesus
we are forgiven and the veil of sin
is removed from our hearts
through Jesus revealing himself to us
may you know the forgiveness he offers
and through Christ
boldly commend yourself to God
who loves you beyond imagining
